Regular Groups at Southlands Arts
Find Your People. Find Your Thing.
Southlands Arts Centre is home to a wide and growing range of weekly groups and classes, based in West Drayton and open to the whole community. Whether you’re looking to learn something new, pick up a long-forgotten hobby, or simply spend time with like-minded people, there’s almost certainly something here for you.
Our groups span art, craft, writing, photography, music, yoga, meditation, chess, gardening, and more — with sessions running most days of the week at very affordable prices. Some are drop-in, some are structured, and many are free or just a few pounds a session. What they all share is a warm, welcoming atmosphere where beginners are just as valued as experienced hands.
Many of our groups have been running for years — some for decades. They’re not just classes. They’re communities.

Southlands Arts Centre is located at 75 The Green, West Drayton, UB7 7PW, and is easily accessible from across the London Borough of Hillingdon — including Uxbridge, Hayes, Yiewsley, Cowley, Ruislip, and Harmondsworth — as well as from nearby areas of Slough and the wider West London commuter belt.
What kinds of groups and classes does Southlands offer? We run a broad range of community groups and creative classes including art groups, life drawing, digital art, crochet, knitting, sewing, creative writing, photography, chess, yoga, meditation, and gardening. New groups are added regularly, so it’s always worth checking back.
Are the groups suitable for beginners? Most of our groups are open to all skill levels and actively welcome beginners. You don’t need any prior experience to join groups like our crochet workshop, life drawing class, Writers’ Salon, or photography group — just a willingness to give it a go.
How much do classes cost? Prices vary by group. Many are free or cost just £2–£3 per session. Others, such as yoga and meditation, are £10. A number of our art groups charge nothing at all. Full pricing is listed on each group’s page.
Can I just turn up, or do I need to book? This varies by group. Some welcome drop-ins, while others ask you to book or get in touch in advance so they know how many to expect. Contact details are listed on each group’s page, and our friendly team is always happy to point you in the right direction.
Is there parking and good transport links? Southlands Arts Centre is situated on The Green in West Drayton, with local bus routes and West Drayton railway station (Elizabeth line) nearby, making it straightforward to reach from across Hillingdon and beyond. Parking is available locally.
I’d like to start a group at Southlands — is that possible? Yes — we actively encourage it. If you have an idea for a group or class and are looking for a welcoming, well-established community venue to host it, get in touch or visit our Start a Group page.
