Discover the tactile world of tapestry weaving in this colourful, hands-on workshop with artist and weaver Aruna Reddy, who has been practising and exhibiting her work for over 20 years.
Aruna’s approach to weaving is playful, experimental and deeply rooted in the joy of materials. Drawing inspiration from colour, texture and the creative possibilities of fibre, she encourages participants to explore materials with curiosity and confidence. Her workshops offer a welcoming space to slow down, experiment and discover the pleasures of making by hand.

- Exploring simple tapestry weaving techniques
- Creating texture through techniques such as rya knots, soumak stitch, loops and raised woven surfaces
- Experimenting with different yarns, fibres and materials
- Combining colour, pattern and texture to create unique effects
- Creating a small woven piece to take .
Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience of weaving, this friendly and supportive session requires no prior knowledge. Simply bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
You’ll leave with a finished woven sample, an introduction to basic tapestry techniques, and a greater understanding of how texture, colour and material can transform a woven piece.
