About this Event

Join textile artist Mei Lock for a creative workshop where food memories become stitched stories. Over three relaxed hours, you’ll explore the recipes, ingredients and kitchen rituals that hold meaning for you, transforming them into a personal placemat to treasure.

Using simple stitching and textile techniques, Mei will guide you through crafting your own recipe design on fabric. You’ll work with blank calico placemats and threads, with plenty of space for play, reflection and conversation. Whether your recipe is a family favourite, a dish that reminds you of home, or an ingredient with a story of its own, this workshop offers a calm space to bring it to life.

No experience is needed. All materials are provided, and you’re welcome to bring along any packaging, images, fabric, threads or notes connected to your chosen recipe to personalise your piece.

You’ll leave with a hand-stitched placemat that captures your memories, your creativity, and a little of your own kitchen story.
