With Jaspreet Kaur
This spring, Southlands Arts Centre welcomes award-winning poet, bestselling author and lecturer Jaspreet Kaur for a six-week immersive writing course exploring memory, identity and belonging.
Across six guided sessions, participants will turn towards the stories they carry – the moments that shaped them, the objects they’ve kept, the histories they’ve inherited, and the places they call home.
Through structured prompts, close reading, discussion and writing time, attendees will craft original poems rooted in personal experience and shaped by thoughtful editing and reflection.
By the end of the course, participants will have:
• Developed a small body of original poems
• Explored themes of memory, heritage and belonging
• Strengthened their craft and editing skills
• Built confidence in sharing their voice
