Writers’ Salon is the Southlands Arts creative writing group, meeting every Tuesday as a welcoming space to explore, share, and celebrate creative writing in all its forms. The group brings together writers of different backgrounds and experience levels, united by a love of storytelling, language, and imagination.
In 2025, the Writers’ Salon published Once Upon Another Time, Southlands’ first-ever book. This landmark project gave members a shared, tangible goal to work towards, fostering collaboration, confidence, and a strong sense of creative achievement. The publication stands as a celebration of the group’s commitment to writing and creativity.
The Writers’ Salon is led by Jayne Towndrow and Paula O’Shea, who are also the creative forces behind LitOct and the creative writing competition that inspired Southlands’ second publication, The Southlands Anthology. This anthology was released as a limited edition at the end of 2025, made possible through the support of LitOct and micro-publisher Kite Tangle.
