Les Artists is Southlands Arts’ longest-running group, with roots stretching back to the 1960s. Named after Les Nind — whose story you can read on our dedicated page — it has been a cornerstone of the Southlands community for decades, and that spirit of warmth and belonging is still very much alive today.

This is as much a social group as it is an art group. Some people come along to paint the still life we set up each week, others arrive with their own project and simply enjoy being in a room full of fellow artists. Many come just as much for the company as the creativity — and that’s entirely the point.

We work in a range of media including oils, acrylics, watercolour, and mixed media, in a relaxed, informal setting with no tuition and no pressure. All skill levels are genuinely welcome, whether you’re a seasoned painter, picking up a brush after years away, or simply curious about what goes on.

If you want to make time for art, be part of a creative community, or just spend a quiet, productive evening among like-minded people — this is the place.
