Printmaking for Beginners with Basia Gorska

Southlands Arts Centre is exceptionally pleased to welcome award-winning printmaker Basia Gorska to present – Printmaking for Beginners. This will be a relaxed workshop for people wanting to experience a taster session in printmaking. Basia will introduce participants to a range of printmaking techniques, from printing with store-cupboard staples like onions and sweetcorn to garden or hedgerow foliage, to using bubble wrap and found objects. Participants will learn printmaking techniques that don’t need a press such as monoprinting. An experimental aspect of the workshop will be using a pasta maker to do drypoint. Basia will also show what materials to use to create simple plates from which participants can print and how to plan and implement your design. You will leave at the end of the day with a number of original prints all designed and printed by you. All the materials you need are easily accessible and you’ll be able to use your newfound skills to do printmaking at home. Please note: A minimum of seven participants is needed to run this workshop. Ticket holders will be notified 14 days prior to the date of the workshop if the workshop is not going ahead. Ticket holders may choose a full refund or to transfer the money to another of our workshops.
What’s included in the price?
Everything is included in the price of the ticket – Use of tools, inks, paper and other materials along with tea and coffee. Participants may wish to bring a packed lunch.
