Spring Art Exhibition 2018 2018-09-16T20:04:23+00:00

Spring of 2018 brought an art explosion to Southlands Arts Centre, with 257 works of art on display. The variety and quality of works submitted were again outstanding.  We are very lucky to have regular and wonderful artists.

Jose Cook with her “La Belle Frogette” was a simple and well painted acrylic, Bernadette Collins brings her free and playful style which we see in her “2 cats, blue and gold” mixed media piece. Johnny Popkess again does not disappoint, I particularly liked the vibrantly painted  “Sun Queen” and “Claret”Edwin Cripps bring us some of his new Pen and Ink pieces, with extraordinary detail.  Barry G Patchin displaying his subtle watercolours and very much enjoyed his “Magnolia Susan”. Peter Goffin, painted “You got my goat” which received much admiration from the public.

And of course, we had the pleasure to hang “The faraway tree”, by Anne Whitelock on the wall in the stairwell, which was a great piece to see when you walked through the front door.  Of course, these are just my personal highlights, all our artists this year submitted wonderful pieces, and without their contribution, the exhibition would not be the success it is.

Below are just a small sample of work from our exhibition.  We ask you not copy the images on our site without permission from Southlands and the artists. Please respect the artists rights.
